DAY ONE
Depart Port Elizabeth 08h00. Enjoy a drive along the Sunshine
Coast through the historic area where the nine frontier wars
between the British, Dutch Boers and various Xhosa tribes took
place. Lunch in East London and then sundowners on the
spectacular cliffs of Morgans Bay. Over night at Morgans Bay
on the Wild Coast. |

DAY TWO
Cross the great Kei River on a pontoon into rural Transkei,
birthplace of Nelson Mandela. Follow ancient sleigh tracks in
4 x 4 vehicles down the path of what was almost a national
suicide for the Xhosa nation and visit the “Pools of
Prophecy”, traditional healers at a rural centre and for the
brave at heart some cliff jumping into deep rock pools. A
picnic lunch and then tackle the challenging Kabanqaba River
crossing in vehicles . Tides permitting enjoy a boat cruise or
canoe trip through the most southerly mangrove forest in
Africa with it’s wonderful plant & bird life. Overnight at
Wavecrest Hotel on the banks of the Nxaxo River |

DAY THREE
Fond farewell to the Wild Coast and depart for the spectacular
Drakensberg Mountains. Overnight in Himeville at the foot of
the famous Sani Pass. |

DAY FOUR
Tackle the challenge of the drive up the Sani Pass into the
mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Enjoy the view and drink in the
“Highest Pub in Africa”. Follow the” Roof of Africa” route
over the highest motorable pass in Africa at 3255m. Overnight
at the New Oxbow Lodge. |

DAY FIVE
Complete the” Roof of Africa” route to Katse Dam with a stop
at the historical Liphofung Caves where King Moshaeshae “the
Great” hid during the local tribal wars and where the San and
other Stone Age people left many archeological deposits of
implements and rock art. Overnight at Katse Dam. |

DAY SIX
Visit the info centre at Katse Dam to find out more about the
Lesotho Highlands Water project , the biggest engineering
project undertaken in Africa , and then proceed on a tour into
the heart of the Dam wall itself.
Enjoy the drive on the highland roads of Lesotho to Mohale Dam
, the second dam in the Highlands water scheme completed so
far. Overnight at Mohale Lodge. |

DAY SEVEN
After the “God Help Me Pass” we will briefly visit the capital
of Lesotho, Maseru, and then drive through the university town
of Roma to overnight at the Semonkong Lodge. |

DAY EIGHT
Pony trek on Basotho ponies or drive to the Maletsunyane Falls
which is the highest single drop waterfall in Southern Africa.
An optional extra is an abseil down the falls, at 205m it is
the highest commercial abseil in the World (Booked in
advance). Spend the afternoon swimming, walking, fly fishing
for wild river trout or just chilling out on the banks of the
Maletsunyane River. |

DAY NINE
Depart for Malealea Lodge. After lunch Pony trek on Basotho
ponies or drive to view the rock art of the early inhabitants
of the mountain kingdom. Visit the arts and craft centre of
the local village people and enjoy their song and dance at
sunset. Overnight at Malealea Lodge. |

DAY TEN
Depart Lesotho for Addo Elephant National Park via the Settler
towns of Aliwal North and Cradock. Go in search of the “Big 5”
with a night game drive in the Addo Elephant National Park.
Overnight in Addo. |

DAY ELEVEN
Relax on a morning game drive in an open safari vehicle
discovering the wonders and beauty of the African bushveld.
After lunch depart for Port Elizabeth. |
