Depart from Baviaanskloof Lodge at 09h00 and rough stuff it up Thomas Baines’s famous Combrinks mountain pass with it’s ancient Cycads & stunning views.

Descend into the “Valley of Baboons” with a stopover at Doodsklip at the head-waters of the Kouga Dam.

Continue through the Kloof giving thought to the hardships faced by the long departed farming community, crossing rivers and passes until we reach Geelhoutsbos for lunch and a stroll around under the yellowood tree canopy.

After lunch return through the wilderness area looking out for herds of Buffalo,Eland,Kudu and smaller antelope as they make their way to the river for a late afternoon drink.

Arrive at Rooihoek our overnight stop. With a natural swimming pool fringed by a stretch of white sandy beach, finely tuned ears will capture the symphonic strains that fill the air. The guttural bark of the baboon, the incessant squabbling of the Red-billed Hoopoe and the heavenly wail of the Fish Eagle epitomizes the life and spirit of the Baviaanskloof. Your tented accommodation will be prepared for you as you relax at the campfire and enjoy a “braai” for supper. The campsite is served by a pit latrine only, a true WILDERNESS experience !!

Breakfast in the bush and then depart for home over the Holgat mountain pass, stopping at a bushman cave to view rock art, Winston Le Roux’s cableway and at the Witrivier to fined the endangered inquisitive Red-finned minnows.

Arrive back at the Lodge in time for a well earned lunch.

The tour includes transport, lunch, dinner and accommodation on day one and transport, breakfast and lunch on day two and all non alcoholic beverages.
